A Field Marketing Representative is a staff of a marketing company saddled with the responsibility for creating the company brand awareness through directly interacting, live and personal, face-to-face communications with users and consumers of their product and services.

As an experienced field sales representative your job is to attract new clients, win new accounts, and maximize profitability within your sales territory. 

Candidates applying for this job as prospects will be expected to work through the entire sales cycle, including learning how to improve by developing new leads, enlightening and educating prospects, and converting interested shoppers into long-term customers. 





You will also be in a position to among other things exercise responsibilities that would generate new customers through trade exhibition shows, campaigns, webinars, meetings, emails, conferences, and more.

As a committed staff, you will be assisting in developing effective and creative campaigns for the organization, working with the sales team to schedule and conduct these campaigns, trade shows, and other marketing activities.




Development of Marketing Programs

As you will be making contact and meeting potential clients on a regular basis for new opportunities, it will enable you to develop positive relationships with existing clients for repeat business. 

Coordinating proactively with the marketing team for the development of marketing collaterals, website content, and newsletters, and will keep your clients abreast in time with new information.

You will be saddled with the duty of generating and analyzing the metric reports indicating the measures of the success of the marketing programs carried out so far. 

Your support for the development of marketing programs and materials to achieve sales goals will push through any imaginary barriers of usual client resistance.

 It is normal for clients to raise questions related to the marketing programs of a company. Therefore you have to ensure that marketing programs, materials, and websites are updated with the latest sales information. 


To update your knowledge you should always participate in industry meetings, and attend sales conferences and outreach events, to promote the company’s products and services.

As a Field Marketer, some of the things that are your primary responsibilities also include being responsible for planning and executing marketing campaigns, which will help to generate new prospects and improve client retention. 

You will therefore have to design marketing campaigns with the goal of increasing product awareness and increasing sales and profits. You will also plan, organize, and execute marketing and sales programs.




Your position in the scheme of functions is as the point person for within and outside the company and the partner sales teams and tracking to ensure that you follow the market trend and company sales performance.

 Keep your record updated daily. Always work closely with the marketing teams to create programs and try to generate leads that will drive sales. 

Try to gather enough data and report customer intelligence to sales teams for review and updating.


In developing marketing plans consider the factors that matter to your clients. Review your vendors and their contracts and effectively supervise marketing assistants and other employees with input leading to a positively noticeable effect on your general performance.


 Such staff must be properly guided for improved results.



All efforts must be made to support all the company initiatives, always providing actionable reports from the field, with shared best practices. 

Give advice that will serve as an advocacy and information source for the company. Create programs that drive brand loyalty and .manage marketing budgets. 


As a field marketer, you should attend trade shows and events to learn about and market products. It is important to develop effective account conversion and improvement strategies to accelerate adoption methods. 


You should be able to quantify the value of all the products or services delivered throughout customer activities and effectively communicate value to customers to promote new applications and sales.

Try to improve the forecast of the performance of the business through a thorough understanding of underlying demand assumptions.


 Also keep abreast of the industry trends, competition, and new opportunities as they emerge. Study and develop an understanding of the product lines and the value chains. Always attend meetings with managers to discuss all the sales strategies and marketing tactics.


 Work out how to close all new deals at a high rate and build relationships with existing customers. Also, try and cultivate new leads within the sales territory you operate. 

Ensure that you travel throughout your operating territory and visit customers on a recurring basis. 

Manage multiple accounts simultaneously  and maintain records of all sales leads as well as customer accounts

Represent the brand during all customer and prospect interactions





Organize and educate customers on how the company's products or services can benefit them financially and professionally.


Keep an eye on and monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions.


Qualifications of Field Sales Representatives 

Qualified field sales representatives should have a high school diploma, and typically hold a bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, economics, or a similar field. 

But take note that in many companies, however, your skills and experience preferences outweigh education when it comes to qualifying candidates, especially because product expertise is typically learned on the job.
